Blocking Contact

Olive — Block Contacts Feature

Block Contacts

Want to avoid seeing someone on Olive? The Block Contacts feature helps you do exactly that. You may choose to share contacts from your device, select people you want to avoid, and Olive will attempt to prevent your profiles from being shown to each other.

What this article covers

  • Blocking a contact

  • Unblocking or managing blocked contacts

  • Disconnecting your contact list

  • How Olive processes contact information

Important Information

  • People you block will not be notified that you blocked them.

  • Blocking a contact does not confirm whether that person has an Olive account.

  • Blocking contacts does not affect existing matches, conversations, or messages.

  • If the contact details you provide do not match the information used to create another user’s account, we may not be able to prevent visibility between you.

  • You can stop sharing contacts at any time in your settings.

  • You may manually add contact information instead of granting contact access.

Blocking a Contact

How to block someone using your contacts

  1. Open Olive and go to your Profile.

  2. Tap Settings.

  3. Select Block Contacts.

  4. Grant Olive permission to access your device contacts (optional).

  5. Choose the contacts you want to avoid.

  6. Tap Block Contacts to confirm.

When you use this feature, Olive temporarily accesses your contact list so you can select contacts to block. After leaving the feature, Olive retains only the information necessary for blocked contacts (such as name, phone number, and/or email address).

Manually Adding a Contact

If you prefer not to share your contact list, you can manually add contact details:

  1. Go to Settings → Block Contacts.

  2. Tap the Add (+) button.

  3. Enter the contact’s phone number and/or email address.

  4. Tap Done.

Managing Blocked Contacts

Unblocking a Contact

To unblock someone:

  1. Open Profile → Settings.

  2. Select Block Contacts.

  3. Open the Blocked tab.

  4. Tap Unblock next to the contact you wish to remove, or choose Unblock All.

Disconnecting Your Contact List

You can stop sharing your device contacts at any time:

  1. Go to Settings → Block Contacts.

  2. Open the menu options.

  3. Select Disconnect Contact List.

Disconnecting contact access will not automatically unblock previously blocked contacts. Those contacts remain blocked until you choose to remove them.

How Olive Uses Your Contact Information

If you choose to enable this feature:

  • Olive accesses your contact list only to help you select people you want to block.

  • Contact data is processed solely for the purpose of preventing unwanted interactions.

  • After selection, Olive stores only the information associated with blocked contacts (such as name, email address, or phone number).

  • This information is used to reduce the likelihood that you and blocked contacts see each other on Olive, provided matching account information exists.

Olive does not notify blocked individuals or use uploaded contacts for advertising or marketing purposes.
